Help › Reset your password
Reset or change your password
I forgot my password
- Open your site's admin page: your site address followed by
/ghost/. For examplehttps://yourname.marginnotes.me/ghost/, orhttps://yourdomain.com/ghost/if you use your own domain. - Type your email address, the one we sent your welcome message to.
- Click Forgot? next to the password box. A message saying a reset email has been sent appears.
- Open the email and click the link in it. It opens a page where you choose a new password.
- Enter the new password twice and save. You are signed in.
Choose a long password. A phrase of four or five unrelated words is easy to remember and hard to guess. A password manager is better still.
The email didn't arrive
- Wait a couple of minutes, then check the spam or junk folder. Search for "password" or "Margin Notes".
- Make sure you typed the same address you signed up with. If you use several addresses, try the others.
- Reset links expire and only work once. If yours is old, or says it has already been used, request a new one from the sign-in page.
- Still nothing? Write to hello@marginnotes.me from the address on your account. We'll send you a fresh link by hand, usually within a working day.
I want to change my password (I'm signed in)
- In the admin area, click your profile picture at the bottom left and choose Your profile.
- Scroll to Change password.
- Enter your old password, then the new one twice, and click Change password.
Signing in from a new device
When you sign in from a browser Ghost doesn't recognise, it may email you a short verification code. Enter the code on the sign-in page to continue. The code goes to the same address as your password reset links.
Someone else on my team is locked out
The site owner can send a new invitation or reset link from Settings → Staff in the admin area. If the owner is locked out and can't receive email, write to us and we'll verify the request before changing anything.
Keeping your account safe
- Never share your password. We will never ask for it, by email or any other way.
- Use a password you don't use anywhere else.
- If you think someone else has access, reset your password straight away, then write to us.
